NZ$ cashier guide
Leon Casino How to Deposit
Pick a method, tick your bonus, pay in NZ$ - and what to do when a payment will not go through.
How to deposit at Leon Casino in four steps
Sign in, open the deposit page from your balance, tick the offer you want or leave it empty, choose Visa, Skrill, a voucher or crypto, type an NZ$ amount at or above the minimum shown for that method, then approve the payment in your bank or wallet. The money lands in your Main balance and the bonus, if chosen, in the Bonus balance.
Register in NZD
Pick New Zealand dollars on the sign-up form. The account currency cannot be changed later, so this one choice shapes every payment you make.
Open the deposit page
Tap your balance or the deposit button. Offers that need a deposit are listed there, and this is the only place to select one.
Choose a method and amount
Each method shows its own minimum, rates and timing. Enter an amount that meets both that minimum and the one on the offer you ticked.
Approve and check
Confirm in your banking app, Skrill or crypto wallet. Then look at the Main and Bonus balances to see both amounts arrived.
That is the whole Leon Casino how to deposit routine, and after the first time it takes about as long as paying for a takeaway online. The part that trips people up is not the payment itself but the order of things around it. The welcome offer is picked on the deposit page before you pay, not afterwards through support. The payment method has to be in your own name. And your account currency is fixed at registration, which is why it pays to choose NZD from the start rather than accepting whatever the form suggests.
When we tried the deposit links on 30 September 2026 without being logged in, Leon simply sent us back to the lobby. The cashier only opens inside an account, because every method, limit and rate on it depends on your currency and region. That is also why this guide talks about "the minimum shown for that method" rather than printing one number for everyone: Leon's own rule is that the minimum deposit is one unit of your account currency or the payment provider's minimum, whichever is greater. In practice the method decides.
If the first deposit is also the one that should carry a bonus, have a look at the 150% Welcome Pack before you start, so you know which box to tick and how much wagering follows. Crypto players have a separate offer with bigger percentages, covered further down.
What the payment looks like on your bank statement
A common first reaction after a card deposit is "who is this?" The line on a New Zealand bank statement does not always say Leon. Leon's terms explain why: part of the financial transactions on the site are handled through a subsidiary in Cyprus, Stola Limited. Payment processing through an agent company like this is normal in online gaming, and it means the merchant name your bank prints can be the processor's, not the brand's.
- Named in the T&C
- Stola Limited
- Registered in
- Larnaca, Cyprus
- Company number
- HE453664
- Terms clause
- 10.2
- Exact descriptor
- Not published
- Best match check
- Amount and time
Leon does not publish the exact text your bank will show, and different card processors format merchant names differently, so we will not promise a descriptor. What you can rely on is the amount and the time. Your deposit shows in the Leon transaction history in NZ$ with a date and time; the bank line will match that amount to the cent if both sides are in NZD, and it will be dated the same day or the next business day depending on how your bank posts card transactions.
If you paid from a card in another currency, the bank line is in that currency and the Leon line is in NZD, so the numbers will not match exactly. Leon converts at the European Central Bank rate or the issuing central bank's rate, and your card issuer may also add a foreign-currency margin. A New Zealand debit card and an NZD account avoid all of that.
Before you ring your bank about an unknown charge, open Leon's transaction history and compare amount and time first. Most of the time the "strange" merchant name is simply the payment agent. If the numbers do not line up, use the Help button on Leon's site and keep the bank reference handy.
E-wallet and voucher payments look different again. A Skrill deposit shows as a movement inside your Skrill account, and the bank only sees the earlier Skrill top-up. A Paysafecard voucher shows as the voucher purchase at the shop or website where you bought it. Crypto never touches your bank at all; the record lives in your wallet and on the blockchain.
Paying with a Visa debit card
The Visa logo sits in the footer of every Leon page, and card payment is the route most New Zealand players take first. A Leon Casino Visa deposit works like any online card purchase: card number, expiry, security code, then an approval step from your bank. The detail that matters most in New Zealand is which kind of Visa you pull out of the wallet.
- Debit, not credit: a Visa Debit draws on your everyday account. That is the card to use for casino deposits.
- Credit cards cost extra: New Zealand banks treat a gambling payment on a credit card as a cash advance, with a fee and interest from day one.
- Approve in the app: most banks confirm online card payments with an in-app prompt or a one-time code. Keep the phone nearby.
- Your own card only: the card must be registered in the account holder's name, the same name as on your Leon profile.
- Play the deposit through: money added by bank card has to be wagered in full before a withdrawal can be requested (T&C 4.17).
- Watch the currency: an NZD card on an NZD account means no conversion and a statement line that matches your cashier history.
The cash-advance point is worth a second look, because it catches people who never read the fine print on their credit card. New Zealand issuers classify gambling merchants separately, and a payment there is handled like taking cash out of an ATM on credit: a cash-advance fee is added straight away and interest runs from the day of the transaction, with no interest-free period. On a NZ$100 top-up the extra cost is small but pointless. A debit card avoids it completely and keeps your spending tied to money you actually have.
The approval step is your bank checking that it is really you. Depending on the bank, you will see a push notification in its app, an SMS code, or a screen inside the Leon cashier that asks you to confirm. If that prompt times out, the payment fails and nothing is taken; start again rather than refreshing the page halfway through, which can leave a pending authorisation that disappears after a few days.
A useful habit for card players is to treat the first deposit as money to play, not money to park. Rule 4.17 in Leon's terms asks that anything added by bank card is wagered in full before you ask for a payout. Spin through it on the pokies, the natural fit for Leon's bonus wagering too, and you will never run into it. It only surprises players who deposit, change their mind and try to withdraw the same amount an hour later.
Leon Casino deposit methods at a glance
Leon's terms say you can fund the account with credit and debit cards, e-wallets and vouchers, and the site adds crypto through a USDT deposit page. The table sticks to what Leon itself publishes. Where a figure only appears inside the logged-in cashier, the cell says so instead of guessing.
| Method | Minimum | Maximum | Speed | Fee | Withdrawal back |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Visa card | Per method | Cashier | Cashier | Cashier | After wagering |
| Skrill | Per method | Cashier | Cashier | Cashier | Same wallet |
| Paysafecard | Per method | Cashier | Cashier | Cashier | Via Skrill |
| Crypto (USDT) | Per method | Cashier | Network | Network fee | Per method |
| Other methods shown in cashier | Per method | Cashier | Cashier | Cashier | Per method |
Swipe the table sideways to see every column.
Minimum. Leon's floor is one unit of the account currency, so NZ$1 on paper, or the payment provider's own minimum if that is higher. Providers nearly always set the higher figure, which is why every row says "per method". A deposit that should trigger a bonus also has to reach the minimum written on that offer; the rule in the bonus terms is that, unless a campaign says otherwise, the qualifying minimum equals the lowest deposit available in your account currency at that moment. So the Leon Casino minimum deposit NZ players actually meet is whatever the deposit screen shows next to the method, and the offer's own line if one is ticked.
Maximum, speed and fee. Leon's rule 4.6 says deposits are processed under each method's individual rates, security checks and timing, all explained on the deposit screen once you are logged in. We would rather send you there than print numbers that could change next week. For crypto, the speed depends on how quickly the blockchain confirms the transfer, and the network fee is paid from your own wallet when you send.
Withdrawal back. Payouts go back to the method you deposited with, and if you used an e-wallet, to that same wallet (rules 4.15 and 4.16). Card deposits must be wagered in full first. Methods that cannot receive money, such as prepaid vouchers, are paid out through Skrill in your own name (rule 4.20). "Other methods" covers anything else your cashier lists for New Zealand; the full list depends on region and is shown when you open it.
If you want to see the list for your own account, open Leon and sign in, then tap the deposit button. Nothing is charged until you confirm a payment.
Skrill, Paysafecard and other wallet-style payments
Two non-card methods are named directly in Leon's terms, and both come with one rule you should know before the first top-up. Neither is complicated; they are simply the kind of detail that only matters when a withdrawal is due and you would rather it went through first time.
Skrill: matching e-mail
The e-mail address on your Skrill account must be the same one registered on your Leon account. If they differ, Leon locks the player account until you contact support and confirm your identity. Check both addresses before the first payment, and keep the wallet in your own name, because Skrill is also where payouts land for methods that cannot receive money.
Paysafecard: keep the voucher
A Paysafecard voucher is bought for cash or online and entered as a PIN in the cashier. Leon may ask for copies of the vouchers you used, or other proof the funds are legitimate, before it processes a withdrawal. Photograph each voucher or keep the purchase receipt until you have cashed out.
E-wallets suit players who like a buffer between the bank and the casino. You load Skrill once from your bank, then move money to Leon without typing card details on the gaming site. Your bank statement only shows the Skrill top-up, and the casino transaction lives in the wallet's history. The trade-off is the name rule: the wallet has to be yours, verified in your name, and if you later switch to a different e-wallet for withdrawals, Leon can insist on paying back to the one you deposited with.
Vouchers are the opposite: nothing at all links the deposit to a bank account, which is handy for keeping a strict budget but means there is no way to send money back to the voucher. That is why Leon treats prepaid vouchers as one-way methods. Winnings are paid to a Skrill wallet instead, Leon checks the wallet is in the same name as the player account, and a mismatch leads to a locked account and a held balance. If you plan to deposit by voucher, open and verify a Skrill account first so the payout route is ready.
Crypto sits in its own lane. Leon's crypto deposit page is set up for USDT, and crypto deposits carry their own welcome campaign, separate from the card-based pack. We cover the network side of crypto below with the bank rails, because the mistakes there are technical rather than about rules.

Leon Casino deposit declined: what to check, in order
A failed payment is annoying, but it almost always has a boring cause. Work through the list from the top. Each step takes a minute, and the early ones solve most cases before you need anyone's help.
- 1. Read the message in the cashierLeon's deposit screen and your bank's app usually say why a payment stopped: "insufficient funds", "authentication failed", "limit reached". The wording points you straight to the right step below, so screenshot it before you try again.
- 2. Check the amount against the minimumAn amount below the method's minimum is refused before it reaches the bank. If you ticked a bonus, the offer may need more than the method does. Raise the amount to the higher of the two.
- 3. Finish the bank approvalIf the in-app prompt or one-time code expired, the bank declines automatically. Start a fresh payment with your phone in hand and the banking app open, and approve within the time shown.
- 4. Look for a gambling block on the cardWestpac NZ and Kiwibank let customers switch on a block for gambling merchants. If you, or a past version of you, turned one on, card payments to Leon will fail while it is active. Keep it if you set it for a reason.
- 5. Allow for a fraud filterANZ, ASB and BNZ can decline an overseas gambling payment through their fraud checks, especially the first one. The bank app or a message from the bank normally asks whether it was you; confirming it often lets the next attempt through.
- 6. Match every nameThe card or wallet must be in your name, and for Skrill the e-mail must match your Leon account. A partner's card or a shared wallet will be refused or will lock the account later.
- 7. Try another method, then ask for helpIf the card still fails, a Skrill top-up or a crypto deposit usually works while you sort out the bank side. If every method fails, use the Help button on Leon's site and share the cashier message and the time of each attempt.
Two situations look like a decline but are not. A deposit that shows as "pending" in your bank app but not in Leon is usually an authorisation that did not complete; it drops off your account on its own, and you are not charged twice. A deposit that arrived in the Main balance without the bonus usually means the offer was not ticked on the deposit page, or the amount was under the offer's minimum. In that case ask support before you place a bet, because once play starts the chance to fix it is smaller.
Also check whether you or your bank have a daily card limit for online purchases. Some everyday accounts have a lower default for card-not-present payments. Raising it in the banking app takes seconds, and it is a better fix than splitting one deposit into several small ones.
How New Zealand banks and crypto networks handle the payment
Almost every Leon Casino how to deposit question from New Zealand ends up on the bank side, not the casino side. The payment landscape has also changed in the last couple of years, so advice from older forum threads is often out of date. These four numbers frame it.
- NZ$1Leon's floor per deposit, before method minimums
- 1 Dec 2025open banking rules began in New Zealand
- 2big NZ banks with opt-in gambling blocks
- NZDaccount currency, fixed at registration
Card payments. A Visa debit payment to Leon runs through the card network like any overseas online purchase. The processor asks your bank for authorisation, the bank runs its fraud checks and may ask you to approve the payment, and the money is held on your account straight away and settled a little later. That is why the Leon balance updates before your bank shows the final transaction.
Pay-by-bank and POLi. POLi, once the default "pay from your bank" button in New Zealand, has been withdrawn from gambling merchants, so don't go looking for it in the cashier. Its replacement across New Zealand retail is open banking: the rules requiring the big banks to support it began on 1 December 2025, and bank-to-merchant payment buttons are gradually appearing at more businesses. Leon's terms already mention instant-payment platforms that use an alias or QR code; if such an option shows up in your cashier, the same full-wagering rule as for cards applies before a withdrawal.
Gambling blocks and fraud filters. Westpac NZ and Kiwibank offer an opt-in block that stops card payments to gambling merchants. It is a good tool, and if you set one on purpose it is doing its job when a Leon payment fails. At ANZ, ASB and BNZ, fraud systems may stop the first payment to an overseas gaming site until you confirm it. For support with gambling that feels out of control, the Problem Gambling Foundation and Gambling Helpline NZ are free and confidential.
Crypto networks and confirmations. A Leon Casino crypto deposit is a transfer from your own wallet to an address the cashier shows you. USDT exists on more than one blockchain, and an address belongs to one specific network, so send only on the network named on the deposit screen; coins sent on a different chain may not arrive. Copy the address with the copy button rather than by hand, and check the first and last few characters after pasting. The deposit is credited after the network confirms the transfer, which depends on the chain and how busy it is, and the network fee comes out of your wallet, not your Leon balance. If you care about the crypto welcome offer, remember it applies to the first crypto deposit made within 30 days of registration.
For high-value players, deposit history also affects withdrawals. Leon runs a tiered withdrawal policy based on cumulative deposits, and VIP status lifts an account to the top tier with limits by arrangement. The VIP program page explains the fast track, which itself starts with one qualifying deposit.
What players say about depositing at Leon
We read through player comments about Leon's cashier and grouped what comes up again and again. The recurring themes are practical, and most of them are about things going right once the basics are in place.
Picking the bonus at checkout is clearPlayers like that the offer is chosen on the same screen as the payment, so there is no promo code to hunt for and no chat to open afterwards.
An NZD balance keeps it simpleKiwi players who registered in NZD mention that the numbers on the cashier, the statement and the game screen finally match.
Wallets and crypto as a back-upWhen a bank is cautious with a first card payment, players often switch to Skrill or USDT and get the session started without waiting.
The Help button sorts payment questionsSeveral comments mention that the on-site help was the quickest way to trace a deposit, especially with the time and amount ready.
The flip side of these themes is the same list of basics this guide keeps returning to: choose NZD at sign-up, use a debit card or a wallet in your own name, and tick the offer before you pay. Players who get those three right rarely have much to say about the cashier at all, which is the best compliment a payment page can get.

Questions about topping up at Leon
01Do I have to verify my ID before I can top up?
Leon's terms ask every new player to complete verification after registering by sending a clear photo or scan of an official ID document. Finishing it early means your first withdrawal is not held while documents go back and forth. More papers, such as a utility bill, can still be requested before a payout.
02Can I switch my account from NZD to another currency later?
No. The account currency is picked once, on the registration form, and every deposit, bet and withdrawal runs in it from then on. If you pay with a card or wallet held in another currency, Leon converts at the European Central Bank rate or the issuing central bank rate, and your bank may add its own conversion margin on top.
03Does Leon add a fee when I deposit?
Leon shows the rates, security checks and timing for each method on the deposit screen after you log in, so read that line before you confirm. Fees you are more likely to meet come from your own side: a credit card cash-advance charge from a New Zealand bank, a currency margin, or a network fee when you send crypto.
04Can I use my partner's card or a friend's Skrill account?
No. Every payment method has to be registered in your own name, and Leon states it takes no responsibility towards a third party whose card or wallet was used. For Skrill the e-mail on the wallet must also match the e-mail on your Leon account, otherwise the player account is locked until support has checked your identity.
05Should I pick the welcome offer before or after paying?
Before. The 150% Welcome Pack and the other deposit offers are chosen on the deposit page itself, and the bonus is credited once that deposit is confirmed. Tick nothing and the payment goes in as plain cash. The welcome bonus guide explains the 40x wagering and the 15-day window.
06Why can't I cash out straight after a card deposit?
Leon's rule 4.17 covers money added by bank card, by one-way methods that cannot receive payouts and by certain instant-payment or QR rails: the full deposited amount has to be wagered before a withdrawal. It is an anti-fraud rule, not a penalty, and ordinary play on the pokies clears it quickly.
07Is the crypto welcome offer the same as the 150% pack?
No, it is a separate campaign for crypto deposits: 200% plus 170 free spins on the first, 175% plus 100 spins on the second and 150% plus 50 spins on the third, with the first crypto deposit made within 30 days of registration. The bonus is wagered 40x in 15 days. Our 200% bonus page compares it with the High Roller offer.
08Can I cap how much I deposit each week?
Yes. Leon lets you set deposit and wagering limits on your own account, and the same tools include a time-out if you want a break from betting altogether. Setting a limit before your first top-up is the easiest way to keep casino money separate from the grocery budget.
